How Azure Printed Homes is Turning Plastic Waste into Sustainable Housing

Beyond pioneering an innovative building method, Azure Printed Homes is driven by a bold mission: to make housing smarter, faster, and greener.

How Azure Printed Homes is Turning Plastic Waste into Sustainable Housing

Innovation often begins with a simple question, and for Azure Printed Homes, that question was: What if we could turn plastic waste into homes? Co-founders Ross Maguire and Gene Eidelman set out to tackle some of the biggest challenges in construction—rising costs, long project timelines, and unsustainable waste.

With their backgrounds in real estate development and construction, they had seen firsthand how traditional methods fell short in efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Instead of working within the limitations of existing processes, they sought to rethink homebuilding entirely.

Their breakthrough came in the form of 3D printing technology that repurposes recycled polymers, drastically reducing construction time, costs, and waste.

Today, Azure Printed Homes is leading a revolution in sustainable housing, proving that cutting-edge technology can create a greener, more affordable future.

Beyond pioneering an innovative building method, Azure Printed Homes is driven by a bold mission: to make housing smarter, faster, and greener.

By combining automation, sustainability, and advanced materials, they aim to address pressing housing shortages, support disaster recovery efforts, and reshape the way communities are built.

With each structure they create—whether it's an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), a sustainable glamping retreat, or emergency housing—they are demonstrating that affordability and sustainability can go hand in hand.

In this interview, we chat with co-founder, Gene Eidelman, on the origins of Azure, their vision for the future, and how they are redefining the possibilities of home construction.

What was the Lightbulb Moment - Origin Story of Azure Printed Homes?

The lightbulb moment for Azure Printed Homes came when my co-founder, Ross Maguire, and I were brainstorming new ways to build faster, more affordably, and more sustainably.

With our backgrounds in real estate development and construction, we had seen firsthand the inefficiencies of traditional building methods—projects took too long, costs kept rising, and construction waste was a growing problem.

At the same time, millions of tons of plastic waste were ending up in landfills and oceans.

We asked ourselves:

What if we could turn that waste into homes?

That question led us to develop and patent a 3D printing process that constructs structures using recycled polymers, reducing construction time by 70 percent and costs by 30 percent. Today, Azure Printed Homes is proving that innovation can drive sustainability, efficiency, and affordability in housing.

What is the Mission and Vision of Azure?

Mission: Azure Printed Homes is committed to revolutionizing housing by leveraging 3D printing technology to create affordable, sustainable, and high-quality homes.

Our goal is to build smarter, faster, and greener, reducing construction waste and carbon footprints while making homeownership and housing solutions more accessible to all.

Vision: We envision a future where cutting-edge technology transforms the way homes are built, making housing more sustainable, efficient, and affordable worldwide.

By pioneering innovative construction methods, we aim to solve global housing challenges, support disaster recovery efforts, and create communities that are resilient, eco-friendly, and future-ready.

How Does the Product and Company Impact Lives and/or the Environment in a Positive Way?

Azure Printed Homes is transforming the way homes are built by making construction faster, more affordable, and environmentally responsible.

By using recycled polymers in our 3D printing process, we significantly reduce construction waste while giving plastic a second life as durable, high-quality housing.

This approach lowers carbon emissions and helps tackle the global plastic waste crisis.

Our homes provide real solutions for families, communities, and governments struggling with housing shortages, affordability challenges, and disaster recovery.

Whether it’s creating accessible backyard ADUs, building sustainable glamping resorts, or providing emergency housing for wildfire and flood victims, we are committed to making housing more efficient, resilient, and environmentally friendly.

Through innovation and responsible building practices, Azure Printed Homes is shaping a future where sustainability and affordability go hand in hand.

How Have You Funded the Company Thus Far?

Azure Printed Homes has been funded through a combination of equity financing, crowdfunding, and strategic investments from accredited investors, family offices, and venture capital.

In the early stages, we bootstrapped the company while developing our technology.

As we refined our 3D printing process, we raised over $6 million in funding through a mix of crowdfunding, accredited investors, family offices, and venture capital funds.

Equity crowdfunding has played a significant role in allowing us to bring in early supporters who believe in our mission, while venture capital and private investors have helped us scale production and expand operations.

We have also leveraged non-dilutive funding, including grants and low-interest loans, such as the $3.9 million in financing awarded by the State of Colorado to help establish our new manufacturing facility.

Our funding journey reflects the power of a diversified approach, combining traditional investment channels with innovative funding methods to grow a deep-tech, hardware-based company.
