I heard this Mark Twain quote in my early twenties and it stuck with me. It has definitely served as motivation to step outside of my comfort zone.
My name is Adam Kunes and I’m the founder of Have Fun Do Good. If you haven’t heard of us, we are a boutique travel company that offers unique volunteer adventure travel experiences that incorporate a “do good” (volunteer) component. We pick amazing locations, plan awesome experiences and give back in the process.
You could say that we’re challenging the traditional vacation model by making it more meaningful. We put out our first Costa Rica trip in October of 2016 and the response was overwhelming. Clearly, I’m biased, but the trip was absolutely amazing. Not only is Costa Rica beautiful, but the people are amazing and the spirit of “Pura Vida” is ever present.
My favorite part of the trip was our last day when we surfed as a group. The sun was close to setting and we were trying to squeeze every moment of daylight in. Trip participants, Ben, Tyler and myself were surfing and all caught the same wave. We simultaneously looked at each other and I knew we were all thinking the same thing. “Holy crap, this is bucket list type stuff.” After we simultaneously wiped out, high fives and smiles were shared all around.
