“Twenty years from now, you’ll be more disappointed by things you didn’t do than the ones you did”.
I heard this Mark Twain quote in my early twenties and it stuck with me. It has definitely served as motivation to step outside of my comfort zone.
My name is Adam Kunes and I’m the founder of Have Fun Do Good. If you haven’t heard of us, we are a boutique travel company that offers unique volunteer adventure travel experiences that incorporate a “do good” (volunteer) component. We pick amazing locations, plan awesome experiences and give back in the process.
You could say that we’re challenging the traditional vacation model by making it more meaningful. We put out our first Costa Rica trip in October of 2016 and the response was overwhelming. Clearly, I’m biased, but the trip was absolutely amazing. Not only is Costa Rica beautiful, but the people are amazing and the spirit of “Pura Vida” is ever present.
My favorite part of the trip was our last day when we surfed as a group. The sun was close to setting and we were trying to squeeze every moment of daylight in. Trip participants, Ben, Tyler and myself were surfing and all caught the same wave. We simultaneously looked at each other and I knew we were all thinking the same thing. “Holy crap, this is bucket list type stuff.” After we simultaneously wiped out, high fives and smiles were shared all around.
If you’ve never been to Costa Rica, I highly recommend checking it out. We just launched our May 10-14 early bird signup for Costa Rica. We’ll be volunteering with the Leatherback Trust Foundation and staying in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Early bird signup is available until March 3rd and spots are filling up fast. For more information, head over to our website at Have Fun Do Good.
We’d love to see you there! “Pura Vida”.
Have Fun. Do Good. owner and founder Adam Kunes incorporates his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for service into everything he does. Adam participated in Semester at Sea, a 100-day undergraduate cruise around the world. This experience opened Adam’s eyes to the world and shaped his views on what it means to truly give to others. His participation in many service-oriented trips both during Semester at Sea and at home inspired the concept for HFDG. Adam hopes his efforts will allow others to realize the opportunities to volunteer are endless and that service can be fun. IG: havefundogood
