General Galactic, an innovator in fossil-free fuel technology, has raised $8 million in seed funding.
Co-led by Harpoon Ventures and Refactor Capital, the investment brings General Galactic’s total funding to $10 million and fuels their ambitious mission to produce fossil-free natural gas using a groundbreaking process that transforms industrial CO₂ waste.
About General Galactic
General Galactic develops state-of-the-art technology to produce fossil-free natural gas from CO₂ waste, creating a sustainable energy source for high-density industries while minimizing emissions.
Through their Genesis system, General Galactic envisions a fossil-free future powered by carbon-neutral fuels that work seamlessly with today’s infrastructure.

Scaled Positive Impact
If General Galactic successfully scales its fossil-free fuel technology, the global impact could be transformative.
By converting CO₂ waste into clean natural gas that’s compatible with current infrastructure, General Galactic enables industries to cut emissions without expensive overhauls.
This accessibility supports a faster green transition across heavy industries, while also offering developing nations an affordable, sustainable fuel option that doesn’t compromise growth.
Local production of fossil-free fuel can strengthen energy security, reducing dependence on imports and creating resilient energy supplies worldwide.
Additionally, General Galactic’s technology could power future space missions, helping colonies in space generate clean energy independently.
Scaling this innovation holds the promise of a greener, more sustainable future, both on Earth and beyond.
Building the Energy Company of the Future
Founded with an audacious vision, General Galactic aims to produce clean energy on Earth and, eventually, fuel missions beyond our planet.
“We started General Galactic to be the energy company of the future. Our vision is ultimately to build a gas station on Mars while producing clean, fossil-free energy on Earth along the way.
This recent funding accelerates that vision, enabling General Galactic to scale up its Genesis technology, which converts industrial carbon dioxide into fossil-free natural gas. - CEO and co-founder Halen Mattison
The company’s next steps include expanding its engineering team and moving toward the commercialization of Genesis systems.
General Galactic’s plan is to deploy these clean energy modules globally by 2025, bringing a viable solution to industries that rely heavily on high-density fuels, including maritime shipping, agriculture, and heavy manufacturing.
The Next Generation of Sustainable Fuel Technology
General Galactic’s proprietary Genesis system is at the heart of their clean fuel revolution. Designed to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure, Genesis produces a 100% clean fuel compatible with current natural gas systems.
This compatibility is essential for industries that can’t afford to overhaul infrastructure but are under increasing pressure to reduce emissions.
As co-founder and CTO Luke Neise notes, “A fossil-free future shouldn't abandon all of our energy infrastructure—it should work with it. We call this decarbonization without destruction.”
Already, Genesis has demonstrated its efficacy with a pilot system producing 2,000 liters of methane daily, positioning General Galactic to help industries make a meaningful transition to clean energy without the high cost and disruption associated with rebuilding systems from scratch.
Scaling Through a First Principles Approach
Taking inspiration from companies like SpaceX, General Galactic prioritizes “first principles” engineering. This scientific approach involves breaking down challenges to their fundamental components, allowing for fresh, often unconventional solutions.
General Galactic’s team believes this strategy will yield a simpler, more robust method for creating fossil-free fuels—solutions that can serve Earth and, potentially, future colonies beyond our planet.
