Infinite Machine, a startup in the personal electric vehicle space, has secured $9.3 million in a seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

This funding will support the accelerated production of Infinite Machine's pioneering electric vehicle, the P1, which is designed as a high-performance alternative to cars in urban environments.

The seed round included support from other investors such as Adjacent Capital, Necessary Ventures, and Otherwise Fund, alongside notable figures like Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg and founders of Reformation, Replit, and Hugging Face.

Together, these investors are propelling Infinite Machine’s vision of a “post-car” future.

Founded by Joseph and Eddie Cohen, two New York-based brothers with a shared passion for transforming urban transportation, Infinite Machine envisions cities where cars are not the default mode of transportation.

Features of the P1 Electric Vehicle

The P1 scooter is designed for an immersive, high-performance city driving experience. Equipped with a silent yet powerful electric drivetrain, this scooter can reach speeds up to 30 mph with a standard driver’s license in the United States.

Those with a motorcycle license can unlock a software-enabled speed boost up to 55 mph. The P1’s versatility is evident in its modular design, enabling users to attach cargo, carry spare batteries, or even install a speaker for a fully customized experience.

One of P1’s key innovations is its removable battery, which can be easily recharged at home with any standard outlet.

This battery, coupled with an onboard automotive-grade computer and remote-access app, offers a unique blend of high performance and seamless connectivity.

With room for two passengers, P1 aims to blend the best aspects of compactness, convenience, and cutting-edge technology into one urban mobility solution.

A Design Process Focused on Quality and Innovation

Dissatisfied with the limitations of traditional urban vehicles, the founders assembled a team with extensive experience from companies like Tesla, Boosted, and Apple.

"We obsessed over every detail of P1…our singular focus was to create the best personal electric vehicle in the world." - co-founder Eddie Cohen

This commitment to excellence informed every aspect of P1’s design, from material selection to advanced engineering and software development.

A Look Toward a Post-Car Future

Infinite Machine’s mission to create the “most compelling non-cars on earth” reflects a growing trend in urban transportation: compact, efficient, and eco-friendly alternatives to conventional cars.

As more cities around the world explore ways to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions, Infinite Machine’s P1 scooter stands as a promising example of how personal electric vehicles can contribute to more sustainable urban spaces.

The P1 is now available for pre-order on Infinite Machine's official website, with deliveries anticipated in 2025.

By focusing on sustainability, high performance, and versatile design, Infinite Machine is positioned to inspire and lead the transformation toward a future in which urban landscapes are optimized for small, adaptable, and electric-powered vehicles.
