Meet Rancho West: Redefining Organic Beer for People and Planet

Rancho West is more than a beer brand; it’s a lifestyle movement that celebrates connection, innovation, and the betterment of both people and the planet.

Whether you're savoring a crisp, clean lager at the beach or toasting to a meaningful occasion, Rancho West is raising the bar—one organic brew at a time.

What sets Rancho West apart is their dedication to crafting a product that embodies the values of modern consumers: transparency, quality, and sustainability.

At a time when more people are studying the impact of their choices—on their health and the planet—Rancho West has answered the call with a beer that delivers on both flavor and integrity.

Below is a Q&A with Rancho West Co-founder, Jason Thompson.

Rancho West Co-founder, Jason Thompson

What was the lightbulb moment - origin story of Rancho West?

Jason: The seed of the idea for Rancho West started with a story, as it usually does with us. We didn't feel there was a beer brand that resonated with us, with the life we lived and aspired to keep living.

We also believed that with the current climate of people paying more attention to what they put in their bodies and the awareness around consumer choices for the betterment of themselves and the planet, we felt we could champion a beer brand that was made for the future direction of agricultural practices as well as identity.

Inspired by rugged, beautiful terrain, where the ranch meets the sea, Malibu CA, and after 4 years of R & D Rancho West launched in 2022 with a simple goal:

to craft the cleanest, most delicious premium organic beer brewed with only the finest USDA-certified organic ingredients, free from harmful chemicals and GMOs.

Rancho West is a collaboration of like-minded individuals who strive to inspire the future, celebrate the now, and bring people together through beer.

Our vision to be America’s organic beer.

Now more than ever, consumers are making informed decisions about what they ingest and how those products impact the environment.

Where to buy

How does Rancho West impact lives and/or the Environment in a positive way?

Jason: The fact that Rancho West is USDA-Certified is something we are very proud of.

It wasn't easy to receive that certification, but we believe its the right thing to do and the right way to move the brand forward.

Here’s why USDA Organic matters:

  1. Health Benefits: USDA Certified Organic ingredients are free from synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and herbicides, such as glyphosate—the active ingredient and known carcinogen used in Roundup. Choosing organic ingredients promotes healthier ecosystems and reduces chemical exposure for consumers.
  2. Environmental Sustainability: Organic farming practices prioritize soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity. By reducing environmental impact, these practices ensure long-term sustainability for future generations.
  3. Support for Farmers: Organic certification provides farmers with fair wages, encourages responsible land stewardship, and fosters vibrant rural communities.
  4. Climate Resilience: Organic and regenerative farming practices play a crucial role in mitigating climate change. By sequestering carbon in the soil, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting resilient agricultural methods, these practices conserve water and prevent water pollution through runoff.

Beer, in its simplist form is agrcuture, and water. Rancho West begins with clean, bio diverse soil, the way beer used to be made.

How have you funded the company thus far?

Jason: We have bootstrapped Rancho West since the beginning between the founders. We are also close to wrapping up our first friends and family round. But we are growing fast, and looking to expand our distribution partners and populate these regions with Rancho West team members.

What tools do you use to run the company?

Jason: We rely on a variety of tools and platforms to ensure smooth operations, efficient communication, and strong distribution networks.

Rancho West is distributed through our trusted distribution partners.

Currently, these networks cover Southern California, specifically Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, as well as Nevada focused on Las Vegas.

We recently launched in Northern California, expanding into the Bay Area, and have plans to enter Central California and Arizona later this year. Texas, Colorado, and additional markets are on the horizon as part of our growth strategy.

To manage our operations effectively, we use SOS Inventory for inventory management, QuickBooks for accounting and financial tracking, and a suite of other platforms tailored to specific needs, such as customer relationship management, supply chain logistics, and marketing analytics.
