Nema Health, an innovator in virtual trauma and PTSD treatment, has secured a $14.5 million Series A funding round to expand its evidence-based care model and reach more trauma survivors across the U.S.
The funding round was led by Deerfield Management, alongside CVS Health Ventures, the venture capital arm of CVS Health.
Existing investors, including Optum Ventures, .406 Ventures, and GreyMatter, also participated.
Addressing a Growing Need for PTSD Treatment
According to Dr. Sofia Noori, Co-founder and CEO of Nema Health, trauma is a widespread issue affecting millions:
“80% of people will experience trauma in their lifetime—ranging from domestic and sexual violence to war, natural disasters, and pregnancy loss. 20% of these individuals develop PTSD, a condition that, if left untreated, can significantly impact their lives. At Nema, we have designed an approach to provide rapid relief and long-term healing, empowering survivors to reclaim their lives.”
With 13 million Americans struggling with PTSD, there is a critical need for accessible and effective treatment options. Traditional care models often fall short, leaving many individuals without the support they need.
How Nema’s Virtual PTSD Treatment Model Works
Nema Health has developed a physician- and survivor-led virtual therapy program rooted in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), the gold standard for PTSD care. What sets Nema apart is its peer-led approach—where trauma survivors guide patients from their first session through recovery.
The therapy focuses on helping patients reframe their beliefs about trauma, themselves, and the world. This approach allows individuals to rebuild trust, intimacy, and relationships—crucial elements in the healing process.
Results Data
One of the most interesting aspects of Nema’s treatment model is its rapid effectiveness:
✅ 91% of patients experience clinical improvement after just 4-6 weeks
✅ 82% of patients no longer meet the criteria for PTSD after completing treatment
A Growing Movement to Make PTSD Treatment Accessible
Despite major advancements in mental health technology, PTSD care has been largely overlooked—until now. Dr. Julian Harris, Operating Partner at Deerfield, emphasized the transformative impact of Nema’s approach:
“For too long, PTSD has been seen as a lifelong, debilitating condition. But Nema is proving that with the right care, healing is possible. Their virtual model makes treatment accessible to millions of Americans who have long struggled to find effective care.”
Expanding Nationwide to Reach More Trauma Survivors
Since launching in 2023, Nema Health has expanded to eight states:
📍 New Jersey
📍 New York
📍 Connecticut
📍 California
📍 Massachusetts
📍 Pennsylvania
📍 Florida
📍 Illinois
With the new Series A funding, Nema plans to expand into additional states, making its life-changing treatment more widely available.
The company is also working to broaden insurance coverage, ensuring affordability for patients from all walks of life.
A Future Where PTSD No Longer Holds People Back
Nema Health’s mission is clear: to revolutionize PTSD treatment and make healing accessible for all trauma survivors. With strong investor backing and a proven, effective therapy model, Nema is on track to become the leading provider of virtual PTSD care in the U.S.
