Tyba Lands $13.9M Series A to Optimize Energy Storage Operations

Tyba, a leading energy storage optimization platform, has raised $13.9 million in Series A funding to enhance its AI-powered energy forecasting, trading, and optimization capabilities.

The funding round was spearheaded by Energize Capital, with additional participation from Pear VC, Mobilize Climate Capital, and Borusan Ventures, along with follow-on investments from Powerhouse, Wireframe, Virta, and Lorimer.

Fueling the Future of Energy Storage

The U.S. power grid is undergoing a rapid transformation, driven by increased electricity demand and a shift toward renewable energy. Battery storage plays a crucial role in ensuring that renewable energy is both reliable and profitable.

Over the past three years, energy storage capacity has surged sixfold, reaching an estimated 30GW—a clear sign of the growing need for scalable and efficient storage solutions.

However, managing battery assets remains complex, requiring sophisticated tools to navigate rapidly evolving power markets.

Tyba’s AI-driven platform addresses this challenge by optimizing battery dispatch, automating energy trading strategies, and providing critical insights that enhance profitability for storage operators.

A Smarter Approach to Battery Storage Management

According to Michael Baker, CEO & Co-founder of Tyba, battery storage operators face ongoing challenges in maximizing asset value and maintaining competitiveness.

"Batteries are essential for expanding clean energy and powering our modern economy. However, managing these assets efficiently requires advanced forecasting and automation. Tyba acts as an autopilot system for battery storage, optimizing energy dispatch and bidding strategies while providing the visibility and control needed to operate profitably at scale," Baker said.

Tyba’s Asset Operations platform streamlines energy storage management by formulating optimal bidding strategies, automating dispatch, and allowing real-time adjustments.

This ensures that operators can maximize revenue with minimal oversight, freeing them to focus on strategic growth initiatives.

Expanding Impact Across the Energy Industry

Tyba is already working with major energy companies, including TotalEnergies, to optimize storage operations across Texas and California. Over the past year, the company has:

  • Tripled its customer base
  • Launched its Asset Operations product
  • Delivered top-tier revenue outcomes, placing in the top 5% of storage assets

Since its inception, Tyba’s Project Simulation tool has been used to model over 100GW of energy projects, helping developers secure over $1 billion in funding for new renewable energy initiatives.

Michael Heitmann, Head of US Short Term Power at TotalEnergies, emphasized the value Tyba brings to large-scale energy storage operations:

"Tyba’s platform has been instrumental in maximizing our asset performance. Their automation tools allow our team to focus on high-impact strategic decisions while the platform manages day-to-day operations."

Scaling AI-Driven Energy Optimization

Energize Capital, the lead investor in Tyba’s Series A round, sees enormous potential in the company’s AI-powered approach.

"Large-scale energy storage is essential to the global clean energy transition, yet operational challenges remain a major barrier to scaling battery assets," said Tyler Lancaster, Partner at Energize Capital and Tyba board member. "Tyba’s AI-driven solution directly addresses this challenge by enhancing storage profitability and optimizing energy dispatch strategies. We are excited to support the company’s next phase of growth."

With this new funding, Tyba aims to:

  • Expand its forecasting and optimization capabilities into new markets
  • Support additional energy asset classes beyond battery storage
  • Grow its engineering, modeling, and commercial teams

The Future of Profitable Renewable Energy

Tyba is positioning itself as the go-to "mission control" for energy storage developers, owners, and operators.

By combining automation with real-time control, the platform enables energy companies to maximize project revenue while supporting grid decarbonization efforts.

With strong financial backing and a rapidly growing customer base, Tyba is set to play a pivotal role in making profitable renewable energy investments the foundation of the clean energy transition.

For companies seeking to optimize their energy storage operations, Tyba offers a powerful, AI-driven solution that bridges profitability with sustainability.
