VoltR Raises €4 Million to Industrialize Lithium Battery Refurbishment in Europe

VoltR, a pioneering French manufacturer of sustainable lithium batteries, has successfully raised €4 million in seed funding. This funding will help the company industrialize its processes and expand its capabilities.

Major investors in this round include C4 Ventures, Exergon, Pays de la Loire Participations, and Anjou Amorçage.

Advancing the Circular Economy for Lithium Batteries

Founded in 2022, VoltR is dedicated to addressing ecological challenges and enhancing European sovereignty by transforming the lithium battery industry.

With the rapid electrification of various sectors, the demand for batteries is surging, which in turn increases the consumption of raw materials like lithium.

VoltR's mission is to mitigate this environmental impact by maximizing the value of used batteries through innovative refurbishment processes.

High-Performance Sustainable Batteries

VoltR has developed advanced technologies and processes utilizing artificial intelligence to characterize, reallocate, and reproduce batteries.

The company manufactures batteries from used products that retain an average of 80% of their storage capacity, often exceeding the performance of new batteries.

"Our aim is to build a European circular economy for lithium batteries to minimize their environmental impact. The largest lithium deposit is not buried within mines but found in our homes," - Alban Regnier, President and founder of VoltR.

Strategic Funding and Future Plans

VoltR's total seed capital now stands at €2 million, supplemented by an additional €2 million through a combination of debt and grants.

With this funding, the company plans to:

  • Develop its pilot plant
  • Industrialize its refurbishment processes
  • Conduct research and development
  • Recruit new talent

Looking ahead, VoltR has already launched a Series A funding round, targeting several tens of millions of euros, expected to close by Q4 of 2024.

Commitment to Eco-Responsibility and Innovation

VoltR is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of lithium batteries by reconditioning cells, thereby extending their life and utility.

This approach not only conserves resources but also supports the creation of a local circular economy that generates value and employment.

Values and Vision

VoltR's core values emphasize responsibility, reliability, and collective intelligence. The company is dedicated to:

  • Eco-responsibility: Prioritizing environmental issues.
  • Social responsibility: Advocating for a local circular economy.
  • Quality: Upholding commitments in terms of product quality and eco-responsibility.
  • Collaboration: Leveraging the collective intelligence of their teams and partners to create a virtuous life cycle for batteries.

A Journey of Innovation and Impact

The story of VoltR began with the vision of four complementary co-founders—Alban, François, Maxime, and Thibaud—who believed that entrepreneurship could drive the energy and ecological transition.

Following years of technical study, VoltR inaugurated its first production line in Angers, attended by Christophe Béchu, Minister of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion.

Comprehensive Solutions for Lithium Batteries

VoltR offers a range of solutions that address the entire value chain of lithium batteries:

  • Battery Manufacturing: Custom design and catalog orders.
  • Cell Sales: Tested and ready-to-integrate cells (18650, 21700, pouch, etc.).
  • SOH Diagnosis: Maximizing battery lifespan.
  • End-of-Life Battery Collection: Collection, transport, and reporting formalities.

VoltR is poised to revolutionize the lithium battery industry by creating a sustainable, circular economy that significantly reduces environmental impact.

Stay tuned for more updates as VoltR continues to lead the way in battery refurbishment and innovation.
