Campground, an Oakland-based operations platform built for social impact programs, has raised over $2.2 million to date. The round includes backing from Precursor Ventures, Acumen Americas, Underdog Labs, Access Georgia Foundation, angel investors, and Jay Love, the founder of nonprofit CRM company Bloomerang.

The funding will support the platform's continued growth and the expansion of AI tools designed to reduce administrative burden for frontline program staff.

The Problem: Tools Built for the Wrong Sector

Workforce development organizations, human services providers, and community-based programs have long relied on a patchwork of generic CRMs, spreadsheets, and expensive custom-built systems. None of those were designed for the way these programs actually operate.

The result is predictable: staff spend hours entering and cleaning data instead of delivering services, outcome reporting is fragmented and difficult, and demonstrating impact to funders is a manual, time-consuming process. At a moment when federal and philanthropic funding is tightening, that inefficiency carries real costs.

"Staff don't have the capacity to spend hours entering and cleaning data; they should be out in their communities providing services," said Sruti Bharat, Founder and CEO of Campground.

What Campground Actually Does

Campground consolidates participant tracking, employer engagement, task management, and real-time reporting into a single platform. The product is built specifically for social impact program workflows, not adapted from tools designed for sales teams or general project management.

The latest version adds AI tools to help staff work faster while preserving the human judgment those programs depend on. The company has been deliberate about framing this as assistance, not automation, which reflects how thoughtful AI integration tends to land in mission-driven organizations.

Two Programs, Two Use Cases

The press release highlights two partner stories that illustrate how different the use cases can be.

In East Oakland, the Career Exploration Experience (CEE), a collaboration between Rise East and the East Oakland Youth Development Center, used Campground to replace paper-based workflows and disconnected spreadsheets that were straining a rapidly growing program.

After implementation, CEE supports 958 students with work-based learning and coaching, saved $100,000 in operational costs, and achieved a 99% participant satisfaction rate.

"Now our data is organized, our workflows are more sustainable, and our participants have an interface that is really easy to use," said Selena Wilson, CEO of the East Oakland Youth Development Center.

In Missouri, the Missouri Works Initiative partnered with the Associated General Contractors of Missouri (AGC-MO) to connect ARC program graduates with construction contractors across the state.

Before Campground, that connection depended almost entirely on quarterly in-person hiring events. Now 166 graduates and 36 contractors use the platform year-round to match on trade interests, certifications, and availability.

The numbers Campground is reporting are worth noting. The platform has served more than 200,000 beneficiaries across 36 partner organizations, supported 1,400 job placements, and delivered over $20 million in estimated technology savings.

The retention rate is 100%: every organization that has invested in Campground remains a partner today.

That kind of retention in an early-stage B2B company, especially one selling into nonprofits and government-adjacent programs, is a strong signal of real product-market fit.

"Campground is helping create an entirely new class of software buyer in a historically underserved market," said Charles Hudson, Managing Partner and Founder of Precursor Ventures.

Yichen Feng, Investment Director at Acumen Americas, pointed to the founder's background as a differentiator: "Sruti and her team understand this market deeply because they've lived it. Campground isn't adapting a tool built for the private sector, it's purpose-built for the way these programs actually operate."

Why This Matters for the Sector

Social impact programs are under pressure from multiple directions. Funding is contracting. Demand for services is rising. And the expectation that organizations can demonstrate measurable outcomes is no longer optional. It's a baseline requirement for most funders.

Campground's pitch is that infrastructure investment at the program operations level pays for itself, not just in staff time saved, but in the ability to generate the kind of outcome data that supports fundraising and policy advocacy.

The $20 million in technology savings claim and the CEE case study's $100,000 cost reduction suggest that framing is grounded in real numbers, not just positioning.

The platform is currently focused on workforce development, human services, and community-based youth programs. Given the operational similarities across the sector, there's a clear path to expanding into adjacent program types.
